Amanda Brunner graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, Honours (Class 1), in 2001.
Since graduating she has worked in a variety of settings, but for the last 10 years she has specialised in paediatrics. During this time she has worked with children from birth to school age with a variety of disabilities, and has received in depth training and experience in a wide range of areas including Sensory Integration and Sensory Processing, Auditory Integration, Regulation (ability to maintain calm alert state in order to focus and attend), Movement and Posture (including motor planning, fine and gross motor skills and motor control), Interaction Skills (including engagement, play and social skills), and other daily living skills (including toileting, feeding, dressing, handwriting etc). More specifically Amanda’s training has included a range of specialised interventions such as the Wilbarger Therapressure technique, Therapeutic Listening, The Listening Program, the MORE program, Brain Gym, and she frequently draws on strategies from the DIR/Floortime and Circle of Security approaches. Amanda is passionate about the fact that it is the child’s family who know their child best, and who really make the difference in supporting the child to meet their goals. As a result she is dedicated to partnering with families, and providing them with targeted information, strategies, and support, to achieve the best outcomes for their child. |
